Objectives
- To identify operational requirements of a Remote Target of Opportunity observing mode at the VLT.
- To implement and demonstrate the Remote Target of Opportunity observing mode, once the fibre link becomes available, proposing it as a baseline VLT observing mode.
Publications
- In the context of the SPIE conference on Astronomical Instrumentation (Marseilles, 23-28 June 2008) a poster entitled “A fast link with Paranal: new operational opportunities” has been accepted by the organizers of the conference ”Observatory Operations: Strategies, Processes, and Systems”. This poster presents EVALSO with special emphasis on the new observing possibilities that it will enable at the ESO Very Large Telescope.
- Iinvited talk on Rapid response to transient events at the conference Telescopes from Afar.
